A creative placemaking effort to beautify and add art to the city landscape.
The National Endowment for the Arts says “Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired. “
Many pieces need to fit into the creation process for a mural. We need to find a building owner who wants a mural on their building, then we need to find an artist, approve a design, raise the funds to cover all the expenses, find volunteers to assist in prepping and promoting the project and get city approvals. If you can help in any way with any of the processes we would greatly appreciate your contribution to adding some beautiful art to our city. Here are just a couple of spaces that we have identified for some mural projects...
Murals are better than looking at a brick wall and they make a way better photo backdrop so people can take a selfie to post on social media, but the benefits extend far beyond that. They’re tied to tourism—who among us hasn’t traveled out of our way to see a cool mural, sculpture, or other unique piece of art (ahem we are famous for an Ice Castle after all)? A mural can add a sense of community pride and comfort. They boost economic growth, inspire investment in the community, prompt relocation, and contribute to many more benefits.
Please consider helping us to fund these creative placemaking efforts by making a tax-deductible donation today. Your donation will turn a head and create a lasting memory for so many people. Thank you in advance!
