Flags & Flowers Program

Flags & Flowers Program

For the past several years beautiful hanging flower baskets and planters have been gracing Wall Street all summer. “The Design Committee of the Eagle River Revitalization Program (ERRP), may have initiated the project, but it was another collaborative community project,” says Nancy Schuller, Committee Chair.  The Vilas County Master Gardening Club helped to coordinate details for the fourteen beautiful hanging baskets and the thirty lush planters on the street corners downtown on Wall & Railroad Streets.

The ERRP has purchased a “watering cart” to water the hanging planters and corner flowerpots daily. “Consistency has been the key to watering each summer.” The City of Eagle River is donating the water to fill the tank twice each morning.

The ERRP also purchases and replace the approximately 100 flags on the street poles on HWY 45 and Wall St. The flags go up before Memorial Day and come down after Veterans Day.

“Thanks go out to all individuals involved in the ongoing project to beautify our community. We sincerely appreciate all the support from many business and individual donations we receive to help fund the expense. We look forward to working with everyone next year to keep the project growing and expanding,”

With additional donations the Eagle River Revitalization Program hopes to sustain the flags & flowers program. If you would like to help with the program, make a donation (click the donate button on the bottom of the page), or contact Karen Margelofsky, ERRP Executive Director, 715-477-0645.
